Who they are
Agility Robotics is an American robot maker based in Salem, Oregon. Its roots are in a research lab at Oregon State University, as the company says on its careers page. Independent coverage, including Wikipedia, dates the founding to 2015.
Jonathan Hurst is co-founder and Chief Robot Officer. Damion Shelton is co-founder and chairman of the board. Peggy Johnson is chief executive. The company also has offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Fremont, California.
What they build
The main product is Digit, a robot with two legs, two arms and grippers. It walks through aisles and doorways made for people and moves boxes, totes and parts. Agility sells it with Agility Arc, cloud software that tracks and manages a group of robots.
Robots are put together at RoboFab, the company’s 70,000 square foot plant in Salem. Agility says the plant is designed to build up to 10,000 Digit robots a year at full capacity.
The version working in customer buildings today is Digit 4. In September 2026 the company showed Digit 5. Agility gives it a height of 1.81 metres, a weight of 129 kilograms, a lift of up to 22.7 kilograms and a reach of 2.2 metres. It also quotes a 90 minute battery that charges in 9 minutes, and swappable grippers.
Digit 5 is not finished. Agility’s own footnote says the robot is in development and that features and designs may change. The company expects early access in the first half of 2027 and general availability by the end of 2027. It also plans sales in the European Union and the United Kingdom, which would be its first market outside North America.
What they are known for
Agility is known for putting a walking humanoid into paying industrial work early. It names GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and Mercado Libre as customers or partners. The company says Digit has logged more than 65,000 hours of real operation.
At a GXO site near Atlanta, Agility reports 100,000 totes handled at roughly 98 percent accuracy. That figure is the manufacturer’s own and has not been independently checked here.
The company also makes safety claims that readers should treat as claims. It says Digit was the first humanoid to pass an independent field evaluation on a customer production line against industrial safety standards administered by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It calls Digit 5 its first cooperatively safe humanoid, meaning it is meant to work near people without fences. Agility says some of those safety features are still being developed.
How they sell
Agility sells to businesses, not to the public. There is no shop and no published price. Buyers start with a sales contact form and a site assessment, then a trial inside their own workflow.
At least some deals are robots as a service, meaning the customer pays to use the robots rather than buying them outright. Agility described its Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada agreement in those terms. The company says it held more than 300 million United States dollars in multi-year orders for Digit 5, tied to contract milestones.
In June 2026 Agility agreed to become a listed company through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, under the planned ticker AGLT. Whether that listing completes is not settled by the company’s own pages.
