Spot fire
A big fire throws glowing bits of wood and bark into the air. Wind carries them, sometimes for a mile or more. Where one lands on something dry, a new little fire starts. That is a spot fire.
These are what turn one burning hillside into a burning street. A spot fire on a wooden deck or in a gutter full of leaves can take hold while firefighters are busy somewhere else.
FireDome’s system watches for these with cameras and heat sensors, then aims capsules of water or retardant at them.
