Who they are
Figure AI, Inc. trades simply as Figure. Brett Adcock founded the company in 2022, and it works from a campus in San Jose, California.
The company calls itself an artificial intelligence robotics company bringing a general purpose humanoid to life. That wording is its own, not an outside assessment.
In September 2025 Figure said it had raised more than one billion dollars in a Series C round. The company put its value after that round at 39 billion dollars. Parkway Venture Capital led, with money from Brookfield, NVIDIA, Intel Capital, Salesforce, Qualcomm Ventures and others.
What they build
Figure builds two-legged robots shaped like people. The first, Figure 01, took its first steps in May 2023. Figure 02 followed and worked in factories. Figure 03 was announced on 9 October 2025.
The company lists Figure 03 as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 61 kilograms, carrying up to 20 kilograms. It gives a runtime of five hours, a walking speed of 1.2 metres per second and an electric drive. Several robot databases list 168 centimetres and about 60 kilograms instead; the figures above are the manufacturer’s own.
Figure 03 wears soft, washable fabric instead of hard metal panels. Each fingertip sensor can feel forces as small as three grams. The robot charges without cables by standing on a mat, at two kilowatts.
The brain is Helix, Figure’s own software that turns camera images straight into movement. Figure calls it a vision-language-action model, meaning one system that sees, understands speech and acts. The company also runs Index, a phone app that pays people to upload videos of everyday tasks as training data.
Robots are assembled at BotQ, Figure’s own factory. Figure says the first line can build up to 12,000 robots a year, with a goal of 100,000 over four years. In April 2026 it reported more than 350 Figure 03 units built and a rate of one per hour.
What they are known for
Figure is best known for putting a humanoid robot on a real car assembly line. A Figure 02 worked at the BMW Group plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina for eleven months. The company reports 10-hour shifts, more than 90,000 parts loaded and over 1,250 hours of running time, contributing to more than 30,000 vehicles.
In June 2026 Figure said a Figure 03 returned to the same plant for a harder job: sorting and sequencing parts and pulling a loaded cart. The company retired its whole Figure 02 fleet in September 2026.
It is also known for home demonstration videos: folding laundry, loading a dishwasher and tidying rooms. These are company videos, not independent tests. Figure says a newer model, Helix 2.5, worked in 30 homes it had never seen before.
How they sell
Figure does not sell robots to the public. There is no price, no order page and no waiting list on its site.
Deals are signed company to company. Figure has a partnership with BMW Group and an agreement with Catalyst Brands, owner of JCPenney, Aéropostale and Brooks Brothers, starting at a distribution centre in Reno, Nevada. A partnership with the investor Brookfield covers property sites and training data.
Figure markets Figure 03 as a home robot, and the home page says home help is here. What is not known: when a household could get one, what it would cost and who decides. The company has published no answer to any of those three.
